A.unharvested, barren, freq. in Hom. as epith. of the sea, “παρὰ θῖν᾽ ἁλὸς ἀτρυγέτοιοIl.1.316, al.; “πόντον ἐπ᾽ .Od.2.370, al.; also “δι᾽ αἰθέρος ἀτρυγέτοιοIl.17.425, Hes. Cat.Oxy.1358.2.34, h.Cer.67,457: Ep. Adj., borrowed by S.Fr.476, Ar.V.1521, Av.1338 (all lyr.).
2. metaph., . νύξ, of death, AP 7.735 (Damag.). (Expld. as if from ἀ-priv., τρυγάω by Sch. Od.l. c., etc.: but = ἄτρυτος, never worn out, unresting, acc. to Hdn.Gr.2.284.)
