αἴθουσα (sc. στοά), , properly part. of αἴθω (q.v.), in the Homeric house,
A.portico, verandah, to catch the sun, “δόμον . . ξεστῇς αἰθούσῃσι τετυγμένονIl.6.243, cf. 20.11, A.R.3.39, 237: in Od. esp. of a loggia leading from αὐλή to πρόδομος, 3.399, al.; αἰ. ἐρίδουπος, echoing to the tramp of horses, 15.146.
2. = κώνειον, Ps.-Dsc.4.78. (αἴθουσσα Hdn.Gr.2.919, v.l. in Hom., which may point to αἰθοῦσσα = αἰθόεσσα.
