A.constrain, Act. only in the pf., ἄχος, χρειὼ βεβίηκεν Ἀχαιούς, Il.10.145,172, 16.22:—Pass., to be forcibly driven, of fire, “ἀνέμῳ βιώμενονHdt. 1.19; “πῦρ βεβιημένονAP9.546 (Antiphil.); “θανάτῳ βιηθείςHdt.7.83, cf. Hp.Mul.1.40: fut., οὐ βιήσεται (in pass. sense) will not yield to force, ib.2.132; βιωομένη (v.l. βιαζ-) Mosch.2.13.
II. freq. as Dep. (pres. imper. “βιάσθωParm.1.34, fut. “βιήσεταιEmp.4.6) in act. sense, “οἳ κεῖνον βιόωνταιOd.11.503, cf. 23.9, Pl.Ti.63c; ὡς εἴ βιῴατο (opt.) . .
