(The original form is preserved in Arc. δερϝά BCH39.55 (Orchom.): Aeol. δέρρη is coined by EM262.57 as etym. of δέρρις: Hsch. has δέρα: ὑπερβολὴ ὄρους, οἱ δὲ τὰ σιμὰ τῶν ὀρῶν by confusion with δειράς. Κοίλᾳ δέρᾳ, place-name in Inscr.Olymp.46.30. Prob. from root of ζέρεθρον, βιβρώσκω.
