δεκατ-εύω ,
A.exact tithe from, “τινά” D.22.77; τὰς πόλεις Jusj. ap. Lycurg.81; τούτους δεκατεῦσαι τῷ ἐν Δελφοῖσι θεῷ make them pay a tithe to Apollo, Hdt.7.132; of things, δ. τὰ ἐξ ἀγροῦ ὡραῖα tithe them (as an offering) . ., X.An.5.3.9; “δ. τοὺς Θηβαίους τοῖς θεοῖς” Plb.9.39.5:—Pass., “ἀναγκαίως ἔχει [τὰ χρήματα] δεκατευθῆναι τῷ Διΐ” Hdt.1.89; ἐλπὶς ἦν δεκατευθῆναι τὰς Θήβας, i.e. that it would be taken and tithed, X.HG6.3.20,5.35.
