II. neut. pl. δευτερεῖα (sc. ἆθλα), τά, second prize in a contest, hence second place or rank, “δ. ϝέμειν τινί” Hdt.1.32; “δευτερείοισι ὑπερβάλλειν” votes for second place, Id.8.123, cf. Pl.Phlb.22c, etc.:—later in sg., CIG2360.29 (Delos), 2759 (Aphrodisias), D.L.2.133.
