A.“-άσομαι” Pl.R.336b, later “-άσω” App.Pun.55:— tear in pieces, [λύκοι] αἶψα διαρπάζουσι [ἄρνας] Il.16.355; of the wind, carry away, efface, “τὰ ἴχνη” X.Cyn.6.2; “τείχη διηρπασμένα” dismantled, Jul.ad Ath.279a.
II. spoil, plunder, “πόλιν” Hdt.1.88, etc.:—Med., “Συρίαν” J.AJ1.9.1.
2. seize as plunder, “χρήματα” Hdt. l. c., cf. Lys. 7.6, 19.40, Hell.Oxy.13.3, Arist.Pol.1281a25, etc.:—Pass., Pl.Plt. 274b; “τἀν τῇ Βοιωτίᾳ διαρπασθησόμεν᾽ ὑπὸ τοῦ πολέμου” D.18.213, cf. Lys.19.41, Th.8.36.
