A.holding fast, v.l.for ἕστωρ, Il.24.272, cf. EM383.25; epith. of Zeus, Sapph.157; of anchors, “ἕκτορες πλημμυρίδοςLyc.100, cf. Luc.Lex.15: as Subst.,= κροκύφαντος, hair-net, Leon. ap. Hsch.; also pl.,= πάσσαλοι ἐν ῥυμῷ, Id.
II. Hom. only as pr. n. Hector, the prop or stay of Troy, “οἶος γὰρ ἐρύετο Ἴλιον ἝκτωρIl.6.403:—Adj. Ἑκτόρεος , α or η, ον, also ος, ον E.Rh. 1 (anap.):—of Hector, Hom., B.12.154, etc.: also Ἑκτόρειος , ον, Anaxil.38; “κόμαιLyc.1133.
