ἔνδιος , ον,
A.at midday, at noon (but “ἔνδιον τὸ δειλινόν” Plu.2.726e), ἔνδιος δ᾽ ὁ γέρων ἦλθ' Od.4.450; “ἔνδιοι ἱκόμεσθα” Il.11.726; “ποιμένας ἐνδίους πεφυλαγμένος” Theoc.16.95; “ἔνδι_ον Κυνὸς ἄσθμα” AP10.12; “ἄλκαρ ἴδεος ἐνδίοιο” Call.Fr.124; “ἔνδι^ον ἦμαρ ἔην” A.R.4.1312; but also ἐνδίοις: ὀρθρίνοις （ὀρθηνίοις cod.), Hsch.
2. in the daytime, Arat.498; “ἔ. οἰνοπότης” AP7.703 (Myrin.).
3. from the sky, “ὕδωρ” Arat.954; hanging in mid-air, “ἀκρεμόνες” AP9.71 (Antiphil.).
II. Subst. ἔνδιον, τό, noon, “ποτὶ τὤνδιον” Call.Cer.39 (also in masc., “δείελος ἀλλ᾽ ἢ νὺξ ἢ ἔνδιος ἢ ἔσετ᾽ ἠώς” Id.Hec.1.4.1).
2. evening, “ἐς ἔνδι_ον” A.R. 1.603, cf. Plu. l. c. [ι_ Hom.; ι_ and ι^ later (v. supr.).] (From ἐν δι^ϝι^, cf. Skt. div- 'daylight, sky', Lat. diu 'by day'.)
