ἔνυδρος , ον, (ὕδωρ)
A.with water in it, holding water, ἔ. τεῦχος, i.e. a bath, A.Ag.1128 (lyr.); of countries, well-watered, “Ἄργος ἔ.” Hes. Fr.24; “Αἴγυπτος ἐοῦσα . . ὑπτίη τε καὶ ἔ.” Hdt.2.7 (ἄνυδρος codd.), cf. X.Cyr.3.2.11; opp. χερσαῖος, PMasp.188.5 (vi A.D.); “τὸ ἔ.” abundance of water, Hdn.6.6.4.
2. of water, watery, νάματα, λίμνη, E.Ph.659 (lyr.), Ion872 (anap.).
3. living in or by water, νύμφαι ἔ. λειμωνιάδες who haunt the watery meads, S.Ph.1454 (anap.); of plants, growing in water, “δόναξ” Ar.Ra.234, cf. Thphr.HP1.14.3, 5.3.4; of animals, Pl.Sph.220b, Plt.264d; of fish, Arist.IA713a10, Ti. Locr.104e; of birds, Arist.HA559a21; τὰ ἔ. (sc. ζῷα) ib.487a26.
4. of land, in the water, submerged, Id.Mete.352a22.
