II. ἔτυμον, τό, as Subst., the true sense of a word according to its origin, its etymology, D.S.1.11, Plu.2.278c, Ath.13.571d. Adv. -μως etymologically, Arist.Mu.400a6, Str.9.2.17, Ph.1.30: Comp. -ώτερον EM526.2: Sup. -ώτατα Nicom.Ar.2.27.—Never in Att. Prose; in later writers only in signf. 11, exc. in Pl.Ax.366b.
