ἐξετ-άζω , fut. ἐξετάσω, rarely
A.“ἐξετῶ” Isoc.9.34, cf. AB251: aor. “ἐξήτασα” Ar.Th.438, S.OC211 (lyr.), etc., Dor. “ἐξήταξα” Theoc.14.28: pf. “ἐξήτακα” Pl.Tht.154d, etc.:—Pass., fut. “-ετασθήσομαι” D.2.20: aor. -ητάσθην (v. infr.): pf. -ήτασμαι (v. sub fin.):—examine well or closely, scrutinize, review, “ἐ. φίλους, ὅντιν᾽ ἔχουσι νόον” Thgn.1016, cf. Ar.l.c., etc.; “τὴν ὑπάρχουσαν ξυμμαχίαν ἐ.” Th.2.7; “βίον αὐτοῦ πάντα ἐξετάσω” D.21.21; “ἐκ τοῦ εἰκότος ἐξετασθῆναι δεῖ τὸ πρᾶγμα” Antipho 5.37; ἐ., opp. ὑπέχειν λόγον, Arist.Rh.1354a5; τὸ δι᾽ ἀκριβείας -αζόμενον exactly weighed words, Pl.Tht.184c; ἐ. τι <διὰ> τῶν εἰδότων make inquiries into a thing from . ., Plb.10.8.1: folld. by Relat., “ἐ. ὅστις ἦν” D.45.82; “ἐ. τί καὶ πῶς λέγουσι” Pl.Phdr.261a; “ἐ. τινά, τίνος ἐστὶ γένους” Epicr.11.17.
