ἐξευρ-ίσκω , fut. -ευρήσω: aor. 2 ἐξηῦρον, Med. -ηυρόμην or -ηυράμην (Men.161.4 codd. Stob.):—
A.find out, discover, Il.18.322, Th.8.66, Pl.R.566b, etc.; ἐ. ὁπόθεν find out from what source . ., Ar. Eq.800; invent, Hdt.1.8, etc.; “βωμολόχον τι” Ar.Eq.1194; ἀριθμόν, μηχανήματ᾽ ἐ., A.Pr.460,469; ἐ. ἐπ᾽ ἐμοὶ δεσμόν ib.97; simply, find, [πόλεώς] σε σωτῆρα ἐ. (sc. ὄντα) S.OT304; “αὐτὸν ἐ. ἐχθίω Φρυγῶν” Id.Aj.1054; “ποῦ τὸν ἄνδρα . . ἐξευρήσομεν;” Ar.Eq.145: c. inf., “ἄλλο τι ἐξευρήκασι . . γενέσθαι” Hdt.1.196; “οὐκ ἐξευρίσκω τι ἄλλο ποιεῖν” POxy. 1588.10 (iv A.D.); ἓν γὰρ πόλλ᾽ ἂν ἐξεύροι μαθεῖν would lead one on to learn, S.OT120:—Pass., Hdt.1.94,al.: impers., ὧδέ σφι ἐς τὴν ἕψησιν τῶν κρεῶν ἐξεύρηται this invention has been made . ., Id.4.61.
