2. metaph., . τροφή food that has lost its properties during assimilation, Hp.Alim.4; so of seed sown in alien soil, Pl.R.497b; of a drug or wine that has lost its power, Phylarch.10J., Dsc.5.6; . γενέσθαι, of a family, to become extinct, Hdt.5.39; οὔπω σφιν . αἷμα δαιμόνων is not yet extinct, A.Fr.162.4, cf.
