ἐφήμερ-ος , ον, Dor. ἐπάμ- Pi.P.8.95, Fr.182 (ἐφαμ- I.7(6).40, Fr.157): (ἡμέρα):—more common form of ἐφημέριος, esp. in Prose,
A.living but a day: hence, short-lived, τερπνόν id.I.l.c.; “τύχαι” E.Heracl.866, Diph.45; “ὄλβος οὐ βέβαιος, ἀλλ᾽ ἐ.” E.Ph.[558]; “ἐ. σώματα καὶ χρήματα ἡγεῖσθαι” Th.2.53; “χρῆσις” Arist.Pol.1252b16; “ἐ. καὶ προπετῆ βίον” Men.382; “τὸ ἐ.” Arist.EN1096b5; “ἐ. πᾶν τὸ τῶν πολλῶν ἀγαθόν” Epicur. Fr.489.
2. of men, ἐφήμεροι creatures of a day, Pi.P.8.95, Semon. 1.3, A.Pr.83; “ὦ τάλας ἐφάμερε” Pi.Fr.157; “ὦφήμερε” Ar.Nu.223; “ὦ φίλοι καὶ ἀτεχνῶς ἐ.” Pl.Lg.923a.
