ἐφίζω , Dor. ἐφίσδω Theoc.5.97:
I. causal, in Ep. aor. ἐφέσσαι, ἐφέσσασθαι:—set upon, once in Hom. in Act., τούς μ᾽ ἐκέλευσα Πύλονδε καταστῆσαι καὶ ἐφέσσαι set me ashore, Od.13.274:—more freq. in Med., γούνασιν οἱσιν ἐφεσσάμενος having set [me] on his knees, 16.443: fut. “ἐφέσσεσθαιIl.9.455: imper., “με νηὸς ἔφεσσαιOd.15.277; “ἐς Λιβύην μ᾽ ἐπὶ νηὸς ἐφέσσατο14.295 (Rhianus: ἐέσσατο codd.):— Med. also, reduce a dislocation, Hp.Mochl.25.
