ἐκγίγνομαι , later and Ion. ἐκγίν- [ι_], fut. -γενήσομαι: Ep. pf. ἐκγέγαα, 3dual ἐκγεγάτην ; part. ἐκγεγαώς, Aeol.
3. simply, come into being, Emp. 59.3, PMasp.153.12 (vi A.D.), PLond.5.1708.207 (vi A.D.).
II. aor., to be gone away, c. gen., ἐκγενέσθαι τοῦ ζῆν to have departed this life, X.HG6.4.23 (s.v.l.).
III. impers., ἐκγίγνεται it is allowed, it is granted, c. dat. pers. et inf., mostly with neg., οὐκ ἐξεγένετό τινι ἀπαγγεῖλαι it was not granted him to.., Hdt.1.78, cf.5.51, Ar.Eq.851, Lys.7.37 ; “δικαιοτάτῳ ἀνδρῶν βουλομένῳ γενέσθαι οὐκ ἐξεγένετοHdt.3.142 : without aneg., ἐκγενέσθαι μοι..τείσασθαι [I pray] that it may be allowed me to.., Id.5.105 ; “εἰ..τότ᾽ ἐξεγένετοD.28.2 : abs. in part., “ἐκγενόμενονIsoc.16.36 : rarely c.acc. et inf., “εἰ γὰρ ἐκγένοιτ᾽ ἰδεῖν ταύτην με τὴν ἡμέρανAr.Pax346.
