A.single out, Th.6.96 :—Pass., “ἀρετῆ πρῶτος ἐκκριθείς” S.Ph.1425, cf. Th.6.31.
2. separate, Arist.HA578a11, 572b22 (Pass.) ; ἐκ τοῦ μείγματος ἐκκρίνουσι τἆλλα hold that the rest are separated out from.., Id.Ph.187a23.
3. exclude, expel, X.Cyr.1.2.14 (Act. and Pass.), Luc.Salt.3 (Pass.) ; reject, condemn, Gal.18(2).693.
4. secrete, of the animal functions, Arist.GA765b10, al. ; “τραῦμα ἐ. ἰχῶρας” Zen.6.46 :—freq. in Pass., Arist.GA738a1, al. ; ἐκ πυρὸς -κρινόμενον καπνόν given offby.., Phld.Sign.36 : metaph., “ὅταν..καθαρὸς ὁ νοῦς ἐκκριθῇ” X. Cyr.8.7.20.
