ἐκπέμπω :
I. of persons, send out or forth from, c. gen. loci, “ὅπως Πρίαμον..νηῶν ἐκπέμψειε” Il.24.681 ; “ὅς τίς σε..δώματος ἐκπέμψῃσι” Od.18.336, cf. S.El.1128 ; “ἐ. ἐκ τῆς πόλεως” Isoc.6.78 :—Med., “δόμου ἐκπέμψασθε θύραζε” Od.20.361,cf.S.Aj.612(lyr.), etc.
2. bring out by calling, call or fetch out, “τινὰ ἐκτὸς πυλῶν” Id.Ant.19:—so in Med., Id.OT951:—Pass., go forth, depart, Id.OC1664.
3. send forth, dispatch, πρέσβεις, στρατιάς, οἰκήτορας, Th.1.90,141,4.49 ; “ἐ. συμπρεσβευτὰς τοὺς ἐχθρούς” Arist.Pol.1271a24 ; “ἐ. ἀποικίας οἷον σμήνη μελιττῶν” Pl.Plt.293d, cf.Arist.Pol.1273b19 :—Pass., “τῶν -ομένων καὶ εἰσαγομένων ἐπιστολῶν” Aen.Tact.10.6.
4. send away, “τινὰ ἐς..” Hdt.1.160 ; “ἐ. τινὰ ἄτιμον” S.OT789 ; “καθάρμαθ᾽ ὥς τις ἐκπέμψας” A.Ch. 98: in Prose, divorce a wife, “ἐ. γυναῖκα” Hdt.1.59, Lys.14.28, cf.D.59.55 :—also in Med., “γῆς φυγάδας ἐκπέμψασθαι” S.OT309.
5. c. dupl. acc., conduct across, “τινὰ τὸν Ἰορδάνην” LXX 2 Ki.19.31.
II. of things, send out, send abroad, “κειμήλια πολλὰ καὶ ἐσθλά..ἵνα περ τάδε τοι σόα μίμνῃ” Il.24.381; “δῶρά τινι” Hdt.1.136 ; “σῖτόν τινι” Th.4.16 (nisi leg. ἐσ-).
2. export, “ἐ. ὧν ἐπλεόναζον” Arist.Pol.1257a32 :—Med., τὰ πλεονάζοντα τῶν γιγνομένων ἐκπέμψασθαι export their surplus products, ib.1327a27.
3. send forth, give out, “σέλας” A.Ag.281; πνεῦμα, [ὑγρόν], Arist.PA664a18, HA589b18; “δυσοσμίαν” Alciphr.3.28.
4. utter, pronounce, A.D.Pron.35.1 (Pass.).
