A.draw out, “ἐξέσπασε μείλινον ἔγχος” Il.6.65 ; “σπάρτον” Hero Aut.25.6 ; pull up, “[χάρακα]” Plb.18.18.14 :—and so Med., ἐκσπασσαμένω δολίχ᾽ ἔγχεα having drawn out their spears, Il. 7.255 :—Pass., “[τρίχες] ἐκσπῶνται” Arist.Pr.893a20, cf. Hero Aut.16.2.
II. remove by force, “τοὺς ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ παστοφόρους” OGI736.7 (Fayûm).
