A.“ἐλίνυον” Hdt.8.71, “ἠλ-” App.Mith.43; Ion. “ἐλινύεσκον” A.R.1.589: fut. -ύσω [υ_] Pi.N.<*>.1, I.2.46: aor. “ἐλίνυ_σα” Hdt.7.56, A.Pr.529 (lyr.), etc.:—Poet. and Ion. Verb, also used in Trag. and late Prose (as Plu.Num.14), keep holiday, take rest, repose, freq. in Hp., as Acut.47; “μὴ ἐλινύειν” Hdt.1.67; διέβη ὁ στρατὸς . . ἐλινύσας οὐδένα χρόνον without any cessation, Id.7.56; ἐλινύσοντα . . ἀγάλματα to stand unmoved on their pedestals, Pi. N.5.1, cf.I.2.46; ὡς μή σ᾽ ἐλινύοντα προσδερχθῇ πατήρ see thee standing idle, A.Pr.53; “οὐκ ἐλινύειν ἐχρῆν” Ar.Th.598; ἐ. μίαν ἡμέραν Orac. ap.D.21.53.
