ἐνήλα^τον , τό, (ἐνελαύνω)
A.anything driven in: as Subst. mostly pl., ἐνήλατα (sc. ξύλα), τά,
I. the four rails, which make the frame of a bedstead, “ἐ. ξύλα” S.Fr.315, cf. Ph.1.666 (Att. κραστήρια, acc. to Phryn.155): later in sg., ἐνήλατον, τό, bedstead, Sor.2.61; “τὸ τῆς κλίνης ἐ.” PSI6.616.17 (iii A.D.).
II. rungs of a ladder, which are fixed in the poles or sides, “κλίμακος ξέστ᾽ ἐνηλάτων βάθρα” E.Ph.1179; “ἄκρα κλιμάκων ἐνήλατα” Id.Supp.729.
III. “ἀξόνων ἐνήλατα” the pins driven into the axle, linchpins, Id.Hipp.1235.
