A.“ἐννοχλεῖς” Theoc.29.36: impf. with double augm. “ἠνώχλουν” X.Cyr.5.3.56, Isoc.5.53, etc.: fut. “ἐνοχλήσω” Id.15.153: aor. “ἠνώχλησα” D.19.206: pf. “ἠνώχληκα” Id.21.4:—Pass., fut. “-ηθήσομαι” D.H.10.3, Polystr.p.8 W.; also -ήσομαι (in pass. sense) Id.p.6 W., App.BC1.36, Gal.UP11.19 (as v.l.): aor. part. “ἐνοχληθείς” Hp.Coac.510: pf. ἠνώχλημαι （παρ-) D.18.50:—trouble, annoy, “τινά” Pl.Alc.1.104d, Diod.Com.2.18, X.Mem.3.8.2, etc.; simply, address, PMag.Leid.W.3.34:—Pass., to be troubled or annoyed, X.Cyr.5.4.34, D.19.20; “ἡ ἐκκλησία ἠνωχλεῖτο” Aeschin.3.43; to be unwell, LXX Ge. 48.1, al.; of a horse, PPetr.3p.73 (iii B. C.); to be overburdened with work, PHamb.27.18 (iii B. C.), etc.
2. c. dat., give trouble or annoyance to, Lys.24.21; “τοῖς ἀκούουσιν” Isoc.4.7; “τῇ ὑμετέρᾳ εὐδαιμονίᾳ” X.An.2.5.13, cf. Amphis 15, Epicur.Nat.11.10; “ἠνώχλει ἡμῖν” D. 3.5, etc.
3. abs., to be a trouble, a nuisance, Hp.Aph.2.50, Ar.Ra. 708, Epicur.Ep.3p.61U., etc.: with neut. Adj., ὅσα . . ἠνώχλησεν all the trouble he has given, D.21.15: c. part., “τὸ δὲ μὴ οὐκ ἠνώχλει λέγων” X.Cyr.5.3.56.
II. worry about, fuss over, “τὰς ἀρετὰς τὰς ὑπὸ τούτων ἐνοχλουμένας” Diog.Oen.25.—Prose word, sts. used in Com., never in Trag.
