II. Med., ἐπάρξασθαι δεπάεσσιν pour the first drops before a libation, freq. in Hom.:—οἰνοχόος μὲν ἐπαρξάσθω δεπάεσσιν, ὄφρα σπείσαντες κατακείομεν let him begin by pouring wine into the cups, Od.18.418, cf. 7.183; “κοῦροι . . κρητῆρας ἐπεστέψαντο ποτοῖο, νώμησαν δ᾽ ἄρα πᾶσιν ἐπαρξάμενοι δεπάεσσιν” Il.1.471, al.
2. generally, serve, offer, “νέκταρ τε καὶ ἀμβροσίην χερσὶν ἐπήρξατο” h.Ap.125; ἐπάρχεσθαι δὲ τοὺς χοροὺς [χορ] είας (dub.) “τῷ Διονύσῳ” IG12(9).192.10 (Eretria, iv B.C.).
3. = ἀπάρχομαι, τῇ ἐπαρχῇ ἣν ἐπάρχονται οἱ δημόται ib. 22.1215.13.
