A.in fit time or place, seasonable, opportune, S.OT875 (lyr.), Th.6.34; “νίκη -οτάτη” Id.8.106; of places, “-ότατον χωρίον πρὸς τὰ ἐπὶ Θρᾴκης ἀποχρῆσθαι” Id.1.68; τὰ ἐ. advantageous positions, X.Hier.10.5; “τοὺς ἐ. τῶν τόπων” D. 18.27, cf. Arist.Pol.1331a21; “Κόρκυρα ἐν -οτάτῳ κειμένη” Isoc.15.108; “τὰ ἐνδεχόμενα καὶ -ότατα” Arist.Rh.1396b5; τοῦ πάθους τὸ ἐ. spontaneous outburst of passion, Longin.18.2: also c.gen., τρίποδα . .λουτρῶν ἐπίκαιρον, = καιρὸν ἔχοντα λουτρῶν, convenient for . ., S.Aj.1406 (anap.); ἰατὴρ -ότατος helping in time of need, Pi.P.4.270.
