A.exhort, encourage, cheer on, c. dat., ἐπεκέλευσά σοι E.El.1224 codd.: abs., Id.Ba.1088: c. acc. pers., . τὸν μὴδιανοούμενονTh.3.82: c. acc. rei cogn., πρὸς τοῖς ἄλλοις κελεύσμασιν . τόδε "εὖ κύνες" X.Cyn.6.20; joined with παρακελεύομαι (which prop. means cheer one on to an act not begun, . to one already begun), Pl.Phd.61a:—Med., “τινὶ παραδιδόναι τὴν ἀρχήνTh.4.28: abs., Plu. Ant.77.
