ἐπισπεύδω ,
A.urge on, further or promote an object, opp. ἀποσπεύδω, Hdt.7.18; “ἐ. τὸ δρᾶν” S.El.467; “τὴν στρατείαν” Isoc.4.138, etc.; of persons, urge on, hasten, X.HG5.1.33; “ὁδίταν” Theoc. 16.93: metaph., οἷς (attracted for οὓς） μὴ φύσις ἐπέσπευσεν whom Nature has not matured quickly, Pl.Lg.810b.
II.. intr., hasten onward, E.Tr. 1275; “πρός τινα” X.Vect.3.4; “ἐ. εἰς ταὐτόν τινι” Id.Smp.7.4: part. ἐπισπεύδων in haste, A.R.3.1389; “τὸ -σπεῦδον τῆς πορείας” Hld.8.17.
