ἐπιχαίρω ,
A.rejoice over, exult over, mostly of malignant joy, c. dat. rei, “κακοῖς τοῖς τοῦδεS.Aj.961 ; “ἀτυχίαις τῶν πέλαςMen.673, cf. Arist. Rh.1379b17: c. dat. pers., D. 21.134; “τινὶ τεθνηκότιPlu.Eum.2; “ἐπί τινιPhld.Mort.20: abs., Ar.Pax1015 (anap.), D.9.61: also in aor. I Med., “ἐπεχήρατοA.R.4.55:—Pass., Phld.Mort.20.
2. rarely in good sense, ἐπιχαρῆναι (aor. 2 Pass.) rejoice in another's joy, Ar.Th. 314(lyr.): c. acc., “σὲ μὲν εὖ πράσσοντ᾽ ἐπιχαίρωS.Aj.136 (anap.).
3. take pleasure in, c. dat., Hld.6.14.
