ἐπιχθόνιος , ον, Ep. Adj., (χθών)
A.upon the earth, earthly, freq. in Hom., as epith. of ἄνθρωποι, ἄνδρες, βροτοί, Od.8.479, Il.1.266,272 : abs., ἐπιχθόνιοι earthly ones, men on earth (cf. χαμαί), opp. ἐπουράνιοι θεοί, 24.220, cf. Pi.O.6.50, B.4.15, etc.; so “. γένος ἀνδρῶνPi.Fr. 213.3 ; “. δαίμονεςwho haunt the earth, Hes.Op.123.
