A.hopeful, cheerful, Th.4.10, 62, X.An.2.1.18, etc.; “ἐν τοῖς δεινοῖς” Th.1.70; “περὶ τῆς ψυχῆς” Pl. Hp.Mi.364a; “πρὸς τὸν θάνατον” Id.Ap.41c, cf. Luc.Demon.6,D.C.57.19; “τοῦ κρατήσειν” D.S.30.16.
2. c. acc. et fut. inf., “εὔελπίς εἰμί σ᾽ ἰσχύσειν” A.Pr.509; εὔελπις σωθήσεσθαι in good hope to be saved, Th. 6.24: c. acc. et pres. inf., Pl.Phd.63c; τὸ εὔελπι hopefulness, Plu.2.1101d, D.C.42.1, etc.; εὔ. λαλιά cheerful talk, Plb.1.32.6.
