εὔσκοπος , Ep. ἐΰσκ-, ον, (σκοπέω)
A.keen-sighted, watchful, “ἐΰσκοπος Ἀργεϊφόντης” Il.24.24, Od.7.137; of Artemis, 11.198 (cf. 11); of Heracles, Theoc.25.143; of Pan, Orph.H.11.9; of men, AP11.112 (Nicarch.).
2. far-seen, of stars and light, Ar.Ec.2 (v.l.), A.R.4.1716; of places, commanding a wide view, “τὰ -ώτατα” X.Cyr.6.3.2, cf. Arist.HA628a11 (nisi leg. εὐσκεπῆ), Plu.Cat.Ma.13.
II. (σκοπός) shooting well, of unerring aim (as some explain Od.11.198), of Apollo, Orac. ap. Hdt.5.61; “Βριτόμαρτις” Call.Dian.190; “τόξοις πρόσωθεν εὐσκόποις χειρουμένη” A.Ch.694; “εὐσκοπώτερα βάλλειν” Hld.9.5. Adv. -πως“, βάλλειν” Ph.2.355: metaph., “ἐξομοιοῦν” Id.1.681; “εὐ. ἔχειν τῶν ἀποκρίσεων” Philostr. VS2.1.9.
