A.εὔνησαOd.4.440:—Pass., aor. 1 εὐνήθην v. infr., etc.: pf. “εὔνημαιAP7.397 (Eryc.): (εὐνή):—poet. Verb, = εὐνάζω, rare in Trag.:
1. lay or place in ambush, ἑξείης δ᾽ εὔνησε [ἡμᾶς] Od. l.c.
2. lay asleep, lull to sleep, “φρουρὸν ὄφινA. R.4.87: metaph., “τῆς δ᾽ εὔνησε γόονOd. 4.758; κάματον, ἐλπίδας, χόλον, AP10.12, 4.3b.41 (Agath.), Nonn.D. 13.276:—Pass., make one's couch, prob. in S.Aj.604 (lyr.); lie asleep, esp. of death, “εὐνήθης ὕπνον ὀφειλόμενονAP7.78 (Dionys. Cyz.), cf. 397 (Eryc.); “πόλλ᾽ ἐν κακοῖσι θυμὸς εὐνηθεὶς ὁρᾷS.Fr.661; of a dog, to lie kennelled, Id.OC1571 (lyr.):—Hom. only in aor.
