A.shining, radiant, glistening, esp. of men's limbs, “φ. ὦμοςOd.11.128, Pi.O.1.27; “γυῖαIl.6.27, Hes.Th.492; “κόμαPi.N.1.68; “πρόσοψιςId.P.4.28 (s. v. l.); sleek, glossy,ἵπποιId.O.6.14.
2. of heroes, famous, glorious,φαίδιμ᾽ ἈχιλλεῦIl.9.434; “φαίδιμ᾽ ὈδυσσεῦOd.10.251; φαίδιμος Ἕκτωρ, αἴας, Il.4.505, 5.617, etc.—Used by Trag. only in Ep. phrases, “φαίδιμ᾽ ἈχιλλεῦA.Fr.131 (anap., ap.Ar.Ra.992); “ἀμφὶ φ. ὤμοιςS.Fr.453; so “φ. βραχίονεςAchae.4.
