2. use enchantments, practise sorcery, φαρμακεύσαντες ταῦτα ἐς τὸν ποταμόν having used this charm upon the river, Hdt.7.114.
II. c. acc. pers., purge, τινα Hp.Acut.(Sp.)55; φ. ἄνω κούφῳ φαρμάκῳ purge upwards, i. e. by an emetic, Id.Art.67, cf. Aph.4.12:—Pass., to be purged, ib.2.37, Men. Her.Fr.5; to be physicked, Arist. Top.111a2.
