Pass. πεφιλοτέχνημαι (v. infr. 111):— art, practise an art, of Athena and Hephaestus, Pl.Prt.321e; περὶ [ἐμπειρίας] Phld.Mus.p.89K.; “περὶ τὰ ἔξωEpict.Ench.29.7; “περὶ τὴν παρρησίανPlu.2.74c, etc.; “ὑπέρ τινοςAel.VH2.2; φ. πρὸς τορευτὰς καὶ τοὺς ἄλλους τεχνίτας to converse with them on art, Plb.26.1.2; use terms of art, Phld.Sign.7.
II. use or employ art or artifice, Plb. 16.30.2, Plu.2.142b, 2.1050c, etc.: c. inf., D.S.13.82.
III. treat or arrange artistically,συλλαβὰς ποικίλως φ.D.H.Comp.15; represent in art, ἀγέλην (in a mosaic) Chor.1.33 p.11 F.-R., cf. 3.6 p.49 F.-R.; treat by the rules of art (i.e. alchemy), Olymp.Alch.p.91 B. (Pass.): —Pass., to be made or furnished by art,παράδεισος τοῖς ἄλλοις πολυτελῶς πεφιλοτεχνημένοςD.S. 14.80; “πρός τιId.3.37; θηλὴ πεφιλοτεχνημένη an artificial teat, Sor.1.115; to be represented artistically, πᾶσα ἀπόνοια ἐν ἐκείνοις πεφιλοτέχνηται, in Trag., Jul.Or.7.211a.
