A.deep thinker, as Socrates is called in derision by Ar.Nu.266, cf. 414 (anap.), al.; φ. τῶν μετεώρων, τῶν οὐρανίων, one who meditates on supra-terrestrial things, X.Smp.6.6, Mem.4.7.6; “τὰ . . μετέωρα φ.” Pl.Ap.18b: hence, generally, philosopher, X. Smp.7.2, cf. Hsch.
II. one who takes care of, τινων D.S.37.8; curator, “ἱεροῦ Ἀφροδίτης” IGRom.1.1167C4 (Egypt, ii A. D.); “συναγωγῆς” JHS28.195 (Side), cf.
