II. as Subst., φρυκτός, , fire-brand, torch: esp. signal-fire, beacon, A.Ag.30,282,292; “φρυκτοὶ ἐς τὰς Ἀθήνας πολέμιοι ροντοTh.2.94, cf. 3.22, Aen.Tact.7.4, Onos.25.3.
2. φρυκτός (sc. κύαμος), , a lot, because roasted beans were used for drawing lots, Plu.2.492a: also, a bean for voting, Poll.8.18.
