2. c. acc. pers., make known, “τινά τινιPlu.Fab.21; commend, “τινὰ τῇ βουλῇ ἰσχυρῶςApp. Mac.9.6.
3. certify a person's identity, BGU581.13 (ii A. D.), POxy. 1024.18 (ii A. D.).
II. gain knowledge of, become acquainted with, discover, c. part., “τοὔργον ὡς οὐ γνωριοῖμί σου τόδε δόλῳ προσέρπονS. OT538; “τὰ καλὰ γ. οἱ εὐφυέες πρὸς αὐτάDemocr.56, cf. E.Alc.564, Th.7.44, Arist.Ph.184a12:—Pass., Th.5.103, Men.72; γ. περί τι or “περί τινοςArist.Metaph.1005b8, 1037a16.
