ἱκετ-εία [ι^], ἡ, more Att. form of ἱκεσία (q.v.),
A.supplication, Th.1.24; ἱκετείαν ποιεῖσθαί τινος to supplicate him, Id.3.67; ἱκετεῖαι θεῶν addressed to them, Lys.2.39; “ἐφ᾽ ἱκετείαν τραπόμενος” Pl.Ap.39a; μετὰ δεήσεως καὶ ἱ. PPetr.2p.60 (iii B.C.), cf. SIG1181.12 (Jewish): pl., “-είας ποιεῖσθαι” Pl.Smp.183a, etc.
