A.-ψωA.Th.525 (lyr.): aor. “ἴαψαS.Aj.700(lyr.): —send, drive on, of missiles, send forth, shoot, “τόξοις βέλη εἴς τιναA. Ag.510; “χερμάδα ἐπί τινιId.Th.299(lyr.); πρόσθε πυλᾶν κεφαλὰν . to throw his head before the gates, i.e. lose it, ib.525(lyr.): metaph., “ἐπιτύμβιον αἶνον ἐπ᾽ ἀνδρὶ θείῳ . . ἰάπτωνId.Ag.1548(lyr.); μακάρεσσιν ἔπι ψόγον αἰνὸν . Rhian.1.4; . ὀρχήματα begin the dance, S.l.c.:— Pass., “ἐπί τινι ἰάπτεται βέληA.Th.544.
2. c. acc. objecti, λόγοις ἰάπτειν τινά assail one with words, S.Aj.501.
