A.temple, side of the forehead (in this sense not in pl., for wh. κρόταφοι is used, but cf. Ruf.Onom.13, Poll.2.40), “ξίφει ἤλασε κόρσηνIl.5.584, cf. 13.576; “τόν ῥ᾽ Ὀδυσεὺς . . βάλε κόρσην: δ᾽ ἑτέροιο διὰ κροτάφοιο πέρησεν αἰχμή4.502, cf. Call.Dian.78.
2. in Att., πατάξαι ἐπὶ κόρρης smack on the jaw, Pherecr. 155b (CAF iii p.716), D.21.147; ὅταν κονδύλοις, ὅταν ἐπὶ κόρρης [τύπτῃ], i.e. with the fist, or with the open hand, ib.72; “ἐπὶ κόρρης τύπτεινPl.Grg.486c, 508d, 527a; “ῥαπίζειν ἐπὶ κ.Hyp.Fr.97 (ἐρραπίσθη τὴν γνάθον ibid.); πὺξ ἐπὶ κόρρας ἤλασα Theoc.l.c.; later “κατὰ κόρρης πατάσσεινLuc.DMort.20.2, Gall.30, cf. EM529.39.
3. in pl., hair, “λευκὰς δὲ κ. τῇδ᾽ ἐπαντέλλειν νόσῳA.Ch.282, cf. Poll.2.32 (perh. the white down in psoriasis): in sg., “ναὶ μὰ τήνδε τὴν τεφρὴν κόρσηνHerod.7.71 (unless in signf. 1.4).
4. head, “κ. ἀναύχενεςEmp.57.1, cf. Nic. Th.905, Opp.C.3.25; Att. for the whole head and neck, Ael.Dion.Fr.235; Ion. for head, Eratosth. ap. Did.in Miller Mél.400.
