A.= κυδάλιμος, in Hom. always in fem., as epith. of Hera and Leto, “Διὸς κυδρὴ παράκοιτιςIl.18.184, Od.11.580; of Pallas, h.Hom.28.1; “ΔίκηHes.Op.257 (v.l. κυδνή; θεαί, of the Nymphs, A.Fr.168 (hex.); rarely of a mortal woman, Od.15.26: masc. first in h.Merc.461, Alcm.9; of a man, X.Ap.29; of a horse, “κυδρῷ τῷ σχήματι φέρεταιId.Eq.10.16; κυδρότερον πίνειν to drink more lustily, Ion Eleg.2.10.—Poet. word, used once in Trag., and twice by X.—Besides regul. Comp. “κυδρότεροςXenoph.2.6, B.1.54, we find κυδίων, -ιστος (v. κύδιστος), also “κυδέστεροςPlb.3.96.7: Sup. “κυδίστατοςNic.Th.3; “κυδότερος, -ότατοςEM543.29.
