II. white poplar, Populus alba, Thphr.HP1.10.1, al.; used for chaplets, Ar.Nu.1007, Eup.14.4, D.18.260, Theoc. 2.121; later “λεύκη λευκή” Hippiatr.22.
2. a place at Athens where the taxes were let out to farmers of the revenue, prob. so called from a poplar in the place, And.1.133.
