A.to be foolish or silly, speak or act foolishly, S.Tr.435, Ar.Eq.536, al., Pl.Tht. 152b, etc.; “ξυνθιασώτης τοῦ ληρεῖν” Ar.Pl.508; “περί τινος” Isoc.12.11, 33; “λῆρον ληρεῖς” Ar.Pl.517; ληρεῖς ἔχων (v. “ἔχω” B. IV. 2) Id.Ra.512, cf. Pl.Grg.497b: c. acc., “μὴ ληρήσῃς τὸν ἐκτιναγμόν σου” PFay.114. 21 (i A.D.).
