λιμν-άζω , of the sea or rivers,
A.form stagnant pools, Arist.Mete.352b35, 356a7; ὅσοι ποταμοὶ -άζουσιν εἰς ἕλη rivers which stagnate into marshes, Id.Pr.938a3: impers., -άζει stagnant pools are left in them, Id.Mete.351b8, 352a5.
2. of the blood, to be stagnant, Id.HA513b4, Gal.UP14.10.
II. c. acc., form into a lake, “ ποταμὸς λ. τὰς ἀρούραςPh.2.98, cf. Str.8.8.4, D.Chr.11.76:—Pass., of land, to be flooded, J.AJ1.3.5, PStrassb.10.11 (iii A.D.).
III. intr. in Act., of a country, become a marsh, “ἐν τοῖς -άζουσι τόποιςArist.Mete.340b37, cf. D.S.4.18, Str.8.5.1, etc.
