A.bath, bathing-place, Hom., always in pl., θερμὰ λοετρά hot bath, Il.22.444, al.; later “θερμὰ λουτράA.Ch.670, S.Tr.634 (lyr.), CratesCom.15, etc.; “θερμὰ Νυμφᾶν λουτράPi.O.12.19; also called “Ἡράκλεια λουτράAr.Nu.1051; “λοετρὰ ὨκεανοῖοIl.18.489, Od.5.275; σίτοισι καὶ λουτροῖσι in matters of eating and washing, Hdt.6.52; “λουτρῷ χρωμένουςPlu.2.1109b: sg. first in Hes. l.c.; “τραπέσθαι πρὸς τὸ λ.Pl.Phd.115a, cf. X.Oec.9.7: in pl., bathing-establishment, τὰ δημόσια λ. POxy.1252 B22 (iii A. D.), etc.
