μεθάλλομαι , used by Hom. only in Ep. aor. part. μετάλμενος:—
A.leap, rush upon, of warriors, “οὔτασε . . μετάλμενος ὀξέϊ δουρίIl.5.336; “οὔτασε δουρὶ μ.14.443; “Τρώεσσι μ. ἐν φόβον ὦρσε13.362; of a lion, “ἥρπαξε μ.12.305, cf. Hld.10.30.
2. rush after, in a race, “οὐκ ἔσθ᾽ ὅς κέ σ᾽ ἕλησι μ.Il.23.345.
II. leap from one ship to another in a sea-fight, “ἐς ἀλλήλουςApp.BC5.120; spring from side to side, hither and thither, “τᾷ καὶ τᾷ τὸν Ἔρωτα μετάλμενονBion Fr.10.6, cf. Hld.6.14, Them.Or.22.269c.
