A.recall, Th.8.11: esp. metaph., τὴν ψυχὴν ἀπὸ τῆς ὀργῆς ἐπὶ . . Aeschin.2.159, cf. Plb.30.2.4, Paul.Aeg.3.71:—Med., “τινὰς ἀπὸ τῆς ἀποστάσεως” D.S.16.10.
2. simply, summon, Philostr.VA1.15; “ἐς κοινωνίαν μετακληθῆναι” Id.Her.2.14; “ψυχαῖς ταῖς εἰς χωρία θεῶν καὶ τοὺς ἐγγὺς ἄστρων τόπους καὶ ἱεροὺς δαίμονας μετακεκλημέναις” Herm. ap.Stob.1.49.44; call in a midwife, doctor, Sor.1.4, Gal.10.4; ὁ ἰατρὸς μετακληθείς being called in, Luc.Peregr.44:—Med., summon, “πανταχόθεν” E.Ep.4.4, cf. Act.Ap.7.14, POxy.33vii 2 (ii A.D.); invoke, τὴν σελήνην v.l. in Sch.Theoc.2.10.
