Med., ἅσσα οἱ κατὰ Κλῶθες νήσαντο the happenings which they spun out to him, Od. 7.198; of a spider, “νῇ νήματα” Hes.Op.777; “στήμονα μακρὸν ἔνησα” Batr.183; “πέπλους τε νῆσαι” S.Fr.439; “στήμονα νήσω” Ar.Lys.519; “νῶσαι μαλθακωτάτην κρόκην” Eup.319; “τὰ νηθέντα” Pl.Plt.282e: 3pl. νῶσι occurs in Ael.NA7.12 (as if from νάω), cf. Poll.7.32, 10.125, EM344.1; and Hsch. cites νῶντα: νήθοντα; in Eup.l.c. Meineke restores νῆσαι for νῶσαι. (Cf. Lat. neo 'spin', OHG. nāan 'sew', etc.)
