A.put to graze, drive afield, in Act., of the shepherd, “καλλίτριχα μῆλα νομεύων” Od.9.336; ἐνόμευε νομὸν κάτα πίονα μῆλα ib.217; “ἀγέλην ν.” Pl.Plt.265d:—Pass., metaph., of ἀνθρώπων ἀγέλαι, ib.295e.
2. βουσὶ νομοὺς ν. eat down the pastures with oxen, Lat. depascere, h.Merc.492.
3. abs., to be a shepherd, tend flocks, Theoc.20.35.
